gCaptain has just received these exclusive photos of this week’s jack-up rig accident at Jurong Shipyard in Singapore. Monday’s incident left 89 workers injured but amazingly did not result in any fatalities. Jurong Shipyard said that as of Tuesday, 3 workers remained hospitalized.
The government has stated that preliminary findings indicate that the jack-up mechanism of one of the legs on the three-legged jack-up rig failed, causing the rig to tilt to one side.
Jurong Shipyard is owned by Sembcorp Marine Ltd., the second largest rig builder after Keppel.
Rigzone has reported that this is the Noble Regina Allen (400′ ILC) which is being built for Noble Corporation.
